A serene retreat on seven park-like acres offering the charm and elegance of a European guesthouse. Ma maison, "my house," at Honeysuckle Acres is a massive four-column colonial home built in 1927. The house is reminiscent of an antebellum mansion, and is complete with the original stables and original carriage stone in front. In 2002, Harold and Patricia Frish purchased and remodeled the home for use as a small bed and breakfast. The home is a stunning setting for teas and receptions, both inside and out. A 40-foot ballroom and an equally large, arched entrance hall with winding staircase are ideal backgrounds for bridal pictures. The ballroom is brightened by eight windows adorned by antique cornices from the circa 1854 Lace House, the governor's mansion in Columbia. The innkeepers have a passion for Europe and have chosen to style the home after the manner of a small European guesthouse, or "pension," with all continental amenities. Furnishings are an eclectic mix of fine European and American antique and classical furniture. Honeysuckle Acres has two guest rooms available for lodging with the possibility of a third connected as a suite with a shared bath. Cable television is available in the two main bedrooms. Turn-down bed service, imported chocolates on your pillow and imported waters are provided.
