In light of the projections of possible inclement weather over the next few days, Sheriff Montgomery and Chief Freddie Lorick requests that everyone be a “good neighbor” and check on the elderly and infirmed in their communities, as well as anyone else who might need assistance. If you are aware of any individuals who might be susceptible to this harsh weather, please contact the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office and we will assist them in making any necessary arrangements.

We are closely monitoring weather conditions at this time. While some precipitation is expected to be upon Fairfield County before midnight tonight, higher temperatures should prevent this precipitation from becoming a concern through the night. However, weather models indicate that we will have a strong chance of experiencing freezing rain beginning around 7:00 AM tomorrow (Friday) morning. If the weather does become severe, it is recommended that everyone not travel unless absolutely necessary due to possible hazardous driving conditions. Additionally, if you do need to travel on the roadways, be sure to inform a friend or family member where you are going and what time you should arrive. It’s always a good idea to be overly cautious in these situations.
